La Fortuna Waterfall Hike
Located within a spectacular tropical rainforest with a height of more than 70 meters (230 ft.), La Fortuna Waterfall is a must-see! The adventure starts with an exhilarating hike down the stepped path of high basaltic rock walls, taking about 15 minutes to reach the beautiful La Fortuna Waterfall, where you can either swim or just take pictures and enjoy its beauty. Your guide will accompany you, describing interesting geological aspects of the rock formations and the history of the high basalt columns that gave rise to this waterfall.
Arenal Volcano Hike
The adventure begins at the northwest side of the Arenal Volcano, the area in which there has been the most volcanic activity in the last period of eruptions. Here, we walk the trails to the regenerating forest area and cross over a large block of petrified lava, produced by past eruptions, steep slopes, and sandy soils. Be sure to observe the great variety of plants, wildlife and magnificent rock formations – in addition to the volcanic landscape, there is a wonderful view of Lake Arenal.
Natural History Walk at Mistico
Welcome to the magnificent Mistico Hanging Bridges. As you stroll along the forest trails, the naturalist guides will accompany you in uncovering the wondrous mysteries concealed within this ecological haven. Your guides will share vast knowledge of the flora and fauna inhabiting the reserve, while you explore the canopy, underbrush and forest floor. During this tour, you will surely develop an appreciation for the intricate balance and complexity of the tropical rainforest, while gaining understanding of the interdependent relationships among species and their significance within the ecosystem.
Sloth Tour
Sloths have become somewhat of a national symbol in Costa Rica, and are well-known for their slow, careful movements, and friendly demeanor. On this tour, you’ll get to observe two different sloth species living in the Arenal region. You will be accompanied by naturalist guides, experts at locating wildlife – and they will spot every sloth in your path. The rainforests of Arenal are rich with wildlife, so keep an eye out for Toucans, Poison Dart Frogs, hummingbirds, iguanas, and monkeys!
Night Walk

This 2-hour tour is a nocturnal walk through the lush, green jungle trails of the Eco-Center Danaus, in which you’ll get to see wildlife that don’t show their faces during the light of day. Caño Negro is a hidden gem in Costa Rica, and one of the world’s best spots for bird watching. Home to an abundance of birds, three species of monkeys, caimans, lizards, bats, and a variety of flora native to the wetlands, it is a center of biodiversity and a dream come true for lovers of nature and wildlife. You will take a boat tour on the Rio Frio that winds through the heart of the wetlands, offering a peaceful and tranquil way to observe the flora and fauna.
We will visit a small community, where you’ll experience local culture, learn about traditional agricultural practices and try the delicious local cuisine! A visit to Caño Negro is a must-do for anyone who wants to experience the authentic beauty of Costa Rica.
Don Juan Coffee & Chocolate Tour
Costa Rica is home to some of the world’s most delicious coffee, thanks to its nutrient-rich volcanic soil, as well as some of the finest cocoa. The Don Juan coffee & chocolate plantations are located in the Arenal region, and begin with the coffee tour, during which we will see the coffee production processes – from seed to cup of coffee. Next, we will go on the chocolate tour, in which you’ll get to see first-hand how chocolate is produced, from cocoa bean to chocolate bar. You’ll get to taste some chocolate and drink some coffee!
Balsa River Rafting
The Balsa River is the best spot to go white-water rafting in the Arenal region, featuring class II & III rapids. It contains plenty of action and thrills for those adrenaline seekers, and happens to be perfectly safe for children between the ages of 8-12 – a day of family fun! After a brief session of instructions and practice, you will embark on your journey down the river. Get wet & wild as you thrash through the rapids of the Balsa River on this 2-hour adventure tour!
Keep an eye out for monkeys, sloths and toucans in the lush, green rainforest around you. We will take a break in which you can take a swim, eat some tropical fruits, and have a cold drink. Once the adventure is over, a delicious, typical lunch awaits, served at a traditional country estate.
Nature Safari Float
What better way to be one with nature, than on a serene safari boat tour? Family-friendly and ideal for nature lovers of all ages, the adventure begins on the Peñas Blancas River bank with safety instructions and the handing out of life jackets. Before you know it, you’ll be floating down the river in total serenity – be sure to look for monkeys, the Long-Nosed bat, iguanas, Jesus Christ lizards, and owls within your surroundings! Your naturalist guide will point out the flora and fauna during the safari.
After a relaxing 2-hour float down the river, we will stop at a farm for a locally prepared snack and a cup of coffee before heading back to La Fortuna.
Canyoning & Rafting
This adventure begins with a 10-minute scenic car ride to the outskirts of La Fortuna – be sure to gaze upon the grandeur of the Arenal Volcano! After gearing up and a short safety briefing, you will go on a hike through the rainforest trails. Upon arrival at the waterfall, you will get to climb down the side of the canyon wall, zip-line across the canyon, and rappel down to the canyon floor. After a short trek out of the canyon trail, you’ll ride to your next adventure – white water rafting. Enjoy two hours of exhilarating white-water rafting along the beautiful Tropical River, featuring class II & III rapids. Afterward, you can take a swim in the river, eat some fresh tropical fruits and have a cold drink. A delicious Costa Rican lunch awaits!
Rio Celeste & Tenorio Volcano Hike
Rio Celeste is a river located in the Tenorio Volcano National Park, renowned for its beautiful, turquoise-colored waters. Local legend has it, God dipped his brush of blue into this river, while he was painting the sky. The nature hike will take us through the lush, green primary rainforest, where you will be able to observe countless flora and fauna, including the tapir, wild cats, monkeys, toucans, and a vast variety of amphibians and reptiles. During this 3-hour walk, we visit the magnificent Rio Celeste, a wonderful waterfall, and observe fumaroles, where volcanic gases at the base of the river give the appearance of boiling water.
Kayaking at Arenal Lake
The tranquil waters of the marvelous Arenal Lake are ideal for kayaking, featuring breath-taking views of the Arenal Volcano, surrounded by beautiful landscapes and lush vegetation. As you paddle your way along the lake, you will have the opportunity to see a wide variety of birds such as ‘Flycatchers’, ‘Kingfishers’, ‘Anhinga’, ospreys, and even toucans. During the tour, your guide will give you all the information about the Arenal area. Don’t forget your swimsuit, the temperature of the lake is perfect for swimming!

Your adventure today begins with an ATV ride through the Costa Rican countryside. After brief safety instructions and a bit of practice, you’ll start the thrilling tour! Raise the durst and bask in the beaty of the canyon, and relish in the breathtaking views of the Arenal Volcano.
Next, we will head over to the Balsa River for some white-water rafting. Brief safety instructions and a little practice – and off you go thrashing through the class II and II river rapids! You’ll take a break, in which you can take a refreshing swim in the river, and then eat some fresh tropical fruits. After you complete the rafting route, a delicious Costa Rican lunch awaits.
Pura Vida Cooking Classes
This tasty little tour begins with a short drive to ‘La Finquita’, a small, self-sufficient farm. Here, you’ll get to walk through the property and learn about how our food goes from the field to the table. We will then gather in-season crops, and begin cooking!
You may learn how to cook ‘Gallo Pinto’ for breakfast, Annatto Chicken for lunch, or perhaps some “Patacones” (deep- fried green plantains) o yucca chips with refried beans and Pico de Gallo for an afternoon snack. Discover the Costa Rican cuisine, hands-on, and take new recipes home to prepare for your family and friends.
Children’s Rain Forest Hike
A two-hour hike through lush, green rainforest, this reserve has several exciting trails to choose from. A particularly fun trail passes by the ‘Velo de Novia’, a magnificent waterfall that emerges from the heart of the forest. Be sure to keep an eye out for wildlife, you’ll probably come across a great variety of birds, mammals, reptiles, and insects. On our way back, we will take a break at the lagoon where you can rest and take some photos. Lunch will be provided at the ranger station.
Horseback Riding
The tour begins at the stables of ‘El Silencio Reserve’, a quiet place with trails that gradually climb through cattle grazing fields to patches of forest. Our expert cowboy guide will choose the right horse for you and after brief instructions, you’ll be off on your horseback adventure. You will no doubt enjoy trotting under the shade of the large trees, and be sure to look out for the wide variety of flora and fauna all around! We will visit the lagoon crater and the Arenal Volcano viewpoint, two of the most impressive attractions of the area. At the viewpoint, you can have amazing pictures taken on your horse with the volcano in the background. Here, you will also observe impressive rock mountains, a product of past volcanic eruptions.
Stand Up Paddle at Arenal Lake
The tranquil waters of the marvelous Arenal Lake are ideal for stand-up paddle boarding, the hottest new watersport around! Surrounded by breath-taking views of the Arenal Volcano, and beautiful landscapes of lush vegetation, you’ll paddle your way along the lake in ease. Keep an eye out for birds such as ‘Flycatchers’, ‘Kingfishers’, ‘Anhinga’, ospreys, and even toucans – better have your camera in hand! You can have a paddle race or take a refreshing swim, too!
Sunset View on Boat at Arenal Lake
Watch a stunning sunset on Arenal Lake and stare out at the breath-taking views of the Arenal Volcano. Surrounded by a beautiful landscape and lush vegetation, Arenal Lake is the ideal spot for boat rides.

During the trip, our guide will give you all the information about the area. Enjoy a glass of fine wine, as the sun sets across the lake and the breeze caresses your face.
Asís Project Rescue Center
The Asis Project Rescue Center is a wildlife refuge in which injured animals are taken in, cared for, and then returned to their natural habitats to integrate. During your visit, the naturalist guide will point out and give you information about each animal you come across. You will learn about the importance of conservation and protection of animals, how it should be done, and how your visit impacts the lives of these animals. If you’d like to volunteer, you can help in preparing food and taking it to the animals, or in the actual process of returning the animals back to their habitat. After this experience, you will surely see conservation from a new perspective!
