At a convenient time, in the morning, meet your driver and start the approximate 2 ½ hours private transfer from San José to the Arenal region.

Day 05: Lake Crossing to Monteverde
Scenic journey across Lake Arenal combining a minibus, boat, and 4×4 drive along mountain roads with panoramic valley views. The total duration is approximately 3 hours.

Meet your Nature Guide and transportation at the lobby of your lodge and drive for approximately 20 minutes to El Refugio Monteverde. This land was once used for farming coffee, bananas, and vegetables. However, nowadays the farm became a refuge for critters that find shelter within the boundaries. This area is home for different animal habitats where mammals, reptiles and amphibious coexist with insects, spiders and many more species of wildlife. Assisted by your Nature Guide, you navigate the trails in search of unaware critters. You may find sleeping birds, tarantulas, sloths and occasionally snakes or frogs.
Note: they provide lanterns at the farm, but you can bring your own head lamp.

Located on Costa Rica’s Central Pacific Coast 4.3 miles (7 kms) south of Quepos Harbor, Manuel Antonio is one of Costa Rica’s most popular beach destinations and is sometimes compared to Key West. The beaches within the Park are a main attraction to the area and it is important to keep in mind that it is closed on Mondays.
