La Fortuna Waterfall Hike
Located within a spectacular tropical rainforest with a height of more than 70 meters (230 ft.), La Fortuna Waterfall is a must-see! The adventure starts with an exhilarating hike down the stepped path of high basaltic rock walls, taking about 15 minutes to reach the beautiful La Fortuna Waterfall, where you can either swim or just take pictures and enjoy its beauty. Your guide will accompany you, describing interesting geological aspects of the rock formations and the history of the high basalt columns that gave rise to this waterfall.
Arenal Volcano Hike
The adventure begins at the northwest side of the Arenal Volcano, the area in which there has been the most volcanic activity in the last period of eruptions. Here, we walk the trails to the regenerating forest area and cross over a large block of petrified lava, produced by past eruptions, steep slopes, and sandy soils. Be sure to observe the great variety of plants, wildlife and magnificent rock formations â in addition to the volcanic landscape, there is a wonderful view of Lake Arenal.
Natural History Walk at Mistico
Welcome to the magnificent Mistico Hanging Bridges. As you stroll along the forest trails, the naturalist guides will accompany you in uncovering the wondrous mysteries concealed within this ecological haven. Your guides will share vast knowledge of the flora and fauna inhabiting the reserve, while you explore the canopy, underbrush and forest floor. During this tour, you will surely develop an appreciation for the intricate balance and complexity of the tropical rainforest, while gaining understanding of the interdependent relationships among species and their significance within the ecosystem.
Sloth Tour
Sloths have become somewhat of a national symbol in Costa Rica, and are well-known for their slow, careful movements, and friendly demeanor. On this tour, youâll get to observe two different sloth species living in the Arenal region. Don Juan Coffee & Chocolate Tour
Costa Rica is home to some of the worldâs most delicious coffee, thanks to its nutrient-rich volcanic soil, as well as some of the finest cocoa. The Don Juan coffee & chocolate plantations are located in the Arenal region, and begin with the coffee tour, during which we will see the coffee production processes â from seed to cup of coffee. Next, we will go on the chocolate tour, in which youâll get to see first-hand how chocolate is produced, from cocoa bean to chocolate bar. Youâll get to taste some chocolate and drink some coffee!
Balsa River Rafting
The Balsa River is the top destination for white-water rafting in the Arenal region, offering exciting Class II and III rapids. This adventure delivers plenty of thrills while remaining safe for families, including children ages 8 to 12. After a safety briefing and paddling practice, youâll set off on a two-hour rafting journey through lush rainforest scenery. Along the way, keep an eye out for wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, and toucans. A mid-ride break allows time to swim, enjoy tropical fruit, and refresh with a cold drink. The experience concludes with a delicious traditional lunch served at a charming countryside estate.

After gearing up and a short safety briefing, you will go on a hike through the rainforest trails. Upon arrival at the waterfall, you will get to climb down the side of the canyon wall, zip-line across the canyon, and rappel down to the canyon floor. After a short trek out of the canyon trail, youâll ride to your next adventure â white water rafting. Enjoy two hours of exhilarating white-water rafting along the beautiful Tropical River, featuring class II & III rapids. Afterward, you can take a swim in the river, eat some fresh tropical fruits and have a cold drink. A delicious Costa Rican lunch awaits!
Rio Celeste & Tenorio Volcano Hike
Rio Celeste is a river located in the Tenorio Volcano National Park, renowned for its beautiful, turquoise-colored waters. Local legend has it, God dipped his brush of blue into this river, while he was painting the sky. The nature hike will take us through the lush, green primary rainforest, where you will be able to observe countless flora and fauna, including the tapir, wild cats, monkeys, toucans, and a vast variety of amphibians and reptiles. During this 3-hour walk, we visit the magnificent Rio Celeste, a wonderful waterfall, and observe fumaroles, where volcanic gases at the base of the river give the appearance of boiling water.
Kayaking at Arenal Lake
The tranquil waters of the marvelous Arenal Lake are ideal for kayaking, featuring breath-taking views of the Arenal Volcano, surrounded by beautiful landscapes and lush vegetation. As you paddle your way along the lake, you will have the opportunity to see a wide variety of birds such as âFlycatchersâ, âKingfishersâ, âAnhingaâ, ospreys, and even toucans. During the tour, your guide will give you all the information about the Arenal area. Donât forget your swimsuit, the temperature of the lake is perfect for swimming!
ATV & Rafting
Your adventure today begins with an ATV ride through the Costa Rican countryside. After brief safety instructions and a bit of practice, youâll start the thrilling tour! Raise the durst and bask in the beaty of the canyon, and relish in the breathtaking views of the Arenal Volcano.
Next, we will head over to the Balsa River for some white-water rafting. Brief safety instructions and a little practice â and off you go thrashing through the class II and II river rapids! Youâll take a break, in which you can take a refreshing swim in the river, and then eat some fresh tropical fruits. After you complete the rafting route, a delicious Costa Rican lunch awaits.
Pura Vida Cooking Classes
This tasty little tour begins with a short drive to âLa Finquitaâ, a small, self-sufficient farm. Here, youâll get to walk through the property and learn about how our food goes from the field to the table. We will then gather in-season crops, and begin cooking!
You may learn how to cook âGallo Pintoâ for breakfast, Annatto Chicken for lunch, or perhaps some âPataconesâ (deep- fried green plantains) o yucca chips with refried beans and Pico de Gallo for an afternoon snack. Discover the Costa Rican cuisine, hands-on, and take new recipes home to prepare for your family and friends.
Childrenâs Rain Forest Hike
A two-hour hike through lush, green rainforest, this reserve has several exciting trails to choose from. A particularly fun trail passes by the âVelo de Noviaâ, a magnificent waterfall that emerges from the heart of the forest. Be sure to keep an eye out for wildlife, youâll probably come across a great variety of birds, mammals, reptiles, and insects. On our way back, we will take a break at the lagoon where you can rest and take some photos. Lunch will be provided at the ranger station.
Horseback Riding
The tour begins at the stables of El Silencio Reserve, a peaceful area with trails winding through cattle fields and forest patches. An experienced cowboy guide will select the right horse for you and provide brief riding instructions before setting off. Enjoy a scenic ride beneath shady trees while observing the regionâs rich flora and fauna. The route includes visits to the lagoon crater and the Arenal Volcano viewpoint, two highlights of the reserve. At the viewpoint, capture unforgettable photos on horseback with the volcano as a backdrop and admire dramatic rock formations shaped by past volcanic eruptions.

AsĂs Project Rescue Center
The Asis Project Rescue Center is a wildlife refuge in which injured animals are taken in, cared for, and then returned to their natural habitats to integrate. During your visit, the naturalist guide will point out and give you information about each animal you come across. You will learn about the importance of conservation and protection of animals, how it should be done, and how your visit impacts the lives of these animals. If youâd like to volunteer, you can help in preparing food and taking it to the animals, or in the actual process of returning the animals back to their habitat. After this experience, you will surely see conservation from a new perspective!
